Chrono-stratigraphic Algorithm
The chrono-stratigraphic algorithm adds the temporal dimension to your Harris Matrix diagrams.

Proleg MatrixBuilder builds the stratigraphic sequence adding the temporal dimension to the matrix. It places the contexts vertically depending upon the entered dates. This makes the "contemporary with" unnecessary at the same time gives the matrix of a dimension that allows for a better interpretation.

Automatic Error Detection
Proleg MatrixBuilder ensures data consistency by performing real time automatic error detection to spot mistakes such as incorrect stratigraphic relationships among contexts (i.e. closed cycles) or wrong chronologies. Proleg MatrixBuilder will promptly indicate the cause of the error so that you can quickly and easily come up with a proper solution.

Data Integrity
Proleg MatrixBuilder automatic Data Integrity controls allow you to enter, delete and modify your data easily and confidently.

When the user adds a new stratigraphic relationship to a non-existing context, it automatically creates a record for this new context and adds it to the treeview, while creating the reciprocal stratigraphic relationship. This makes data entry much more efficient.

Likewise, a similar process oiccurs when deleting a context or any of its relationships.

Integrated Navigation
MatrixBuilder's cross-referencing capabilities allows you to easily access contexts, the matrix, information searches and the contexts field records in an integrated manner.

Stratigraphic Relationships

• Proleg MatrixBuilder uses all the physical relationships of each context
• Data entry is fast and simple, as you can add new relationships from either the relationship table or the Harris Matrix.
• Stratigraphic chronology of contexts calculated automatically from their relationships and dating information.
• Redundant relationships are not eliminated so that when changes are made, Proleg MatrixBuilder can correctly recalculate the stratigraphic sequence.
• There is no limit to the number of stratigraphic relationships that can be associated to each context.

Reports
You can use Proleg MatrixBuilder to quickly and easily generate high quality work reports containing a listing of all contexts and its data fields. Reports can be previewed and exported to the most common data formats (i.e. MS Office®, HTML, etc.)

Fully customizable matrix in colors and shapes
With Proleg MatrixBuilder you can add different shapes to each different type of context. Available shapes are Rectangle, Ellipse, Round Rectangle, Parallelogram, Hexagon, Page, Diamond and Octagon. You can also set-up different colors for each type of context and color the relationships for a better understanding in big matrices. Background and foreground colors can also be changed.
Lines between contexts can be rectangular or just straight (oblicual).

Proleg MatrixBuilder also allows you to show chronologies in each context.

Information Search System
Search engine allows you to run advanced queries on contexts and groups. Its Microsoft® Windows® like user interface is easy to use and fully integrated with all Proleg MatrixBuilder components. This allows for quick access to information that is related to each search result, such as contexts' field records.

Results can be printed out.

Import, Export and Print
Matrix diagrams can be saved to disk in standard image formats, which makes them easy to incoporate into documents in all common word-processing and desktop publishing systems.

Import and merge stratigraphic data from other Proleg MatrixBuilder or Proleg StratiGraf files. This allows for collaborative work environments.
In terms of printing options, what you see on the screen is what you get from the printer (WYSIWYG).

Importing and Exporting data
Proleg MatrixBuilder allows users to work with external MS Access® databases. If the user has its own database, Proleg MatrixBuilder can import all the contexts data and its stratigraphic relationships by the use of an intermediate database.

In the same manner, and when the Harris Matrix is ready, the user can export all the stratigraphy to a MSAccess databases.
